Public Feedback Meeting on Norristown State Hospital Property Scheduled for October 9
Harrisburg – As part of its efforts to ensure a transparent and open process in determining the future of the Norristown State Hospital Property, the Pennsylvania Department of General Services (DGS) announced today the Public Meeting for the Norristown State Hospital (NSH) Land Planner Study will take place on Tuesday, October 9 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Norristown Municipal Hall, 235 East Airy Street in Norristown.
The Commonwealth has retained Michael Baker International, Inc. to conduct an independent land planning feasibility study of the NSH campus to determine the highest and best use of the property. The land planning study does not include the portion of the property located in East Norriton Township currently known as the Norristown Farm Property.
The land planning feasibility study process consists of three phases. The first phase includes due diligence technical studies of the NSH campus; the second phase includes the review and compilation of the stakeholder engagement findings and due diligence technical studies along with meetings with key local land planning stakeholders, and the public; and  the third phase will be the preparation of the land planning feasibility report that will provide recommendations on the NSH campus’s highest and best use, and strategies for implementation.
At this meeting, the public will be presented with facts and information regarding the due diligence findings, where the land planner is in the process, next steps and the opportunity to provide public or written comments that will be used as part of the report.
 
The itinerary is as follows: 
 
6:30 p.m. – Formal presentation from land planner 
7:00 p.m. – Public comment session
